Digital still cameras employ an image sensor (usually based on either CCD or CMOS technology) to convert light into electrical charges that vary in strength with the brightness of the light. Commonly, digital cameras can transmit data over SCSI, USB, or FireWire connections. Developers can use the Image Capture architecture that Mac OS X provides to develop applications that access digital still cameras.
